A film crew..

Enderslea Farm was used as a location by the film crew for the film The Walers War Horse in early 2014. It was a really interesting day watching all the activity. I had never seen anything like it before. About  300,000  horses  were shipped to Europe and Gallipoli and only one was ever returned to Australia. Many horses of course were killed in battle but many had to be destroyed when their riders  were sent to England to recuperate, were killed in action or at the end of The Great World War  returned to Australia. The Waler Horse was a specially adaptive horse for the demanding conditions of New South Wales. Hence the name. They were sturdy, fast and able to move very quickly. They also withstood dangerous circumstances without panicking.
The scene at Enderslea Farm was a farewell scene of a son to his mother with all the sadness and poignancy of all wartime farewells. Eve Muir played the mother. She and her sons supplied the horses as they live at Millendon Stud at Herne Hill , Upper Swan Valley. Millenden is a particularily famous historic home as George Fletcher Moore established it and he was a close neighbour of Henry and Sarah Morley when they lived at Albion Town before they bought Enderslea Farm in 1853.
