Built from 1853 by owner Henry Morley Snr, Enderslea is one of the earliest homestead complexes in the Shire of Chittering.

Circa 1880

  1. Settlement of
    Swan river Colony

    Sarah & Henry Morley arrive at Swan River Colony on the Wanstead. They then move to Guildford then the upper swan before purchasing land in Chittering Valley in 1832

  2. Morley Family
    Moves to Enderslea

    Henry Morley purchased land and commenced building Enderslea in 1853. His family moved into the cottage in 1856. In 1859 the Stone Barn built with ticket of leave convict labour.

  3. Farm Passes to Charles
    and Henry Morley Jnr.

    In 1876 Henry Morley passes away and the farm passes to Charles and Henry Morley Jnr. In 1884 Sarah Morley passes away. In 1886 cricket matches and concerts are used to raise fund for the Holy Trinity Church. Charles Morley plants first grape vines in the district in 1887.

     

    1896 Henry Morley Jnr. becomes the Inaugral Chairman of The Chittering Road Board and inaugural meeting held at Enderslea.

  4. Enderslea Farm Transferred to
    Hyem Hester & Co.

    1925 Enderslea Farm is transferred to Hyem Hester & Co. before being purchased by Ernest Withnell in 1927.

    In 1931, Elizabeth Ogden second headmistress of Presbyterian Ladies College. Orchard established by her husband Wilfred.

  5. Elizabeth Finlyson Ogden
    Second Headmistress of Presbyterian Ladies College

    Elizabeth Ogden passes away in 1949 and passes the property onto Wilfred, a renovations is undertaken on the barn in 1950. Enderslea purchased by James Henry Nattrass in 1951, a master butcher who specialised in raising pigs.

    An earthquake in meckering causes damage to homestead and oxen shed collapses in 1968.

  6. Property Subdivided,
    Electricity connected

    In 1975 ,  Property subdivided. Enderslea became Lot 5 of the subdivision.
    Enderlea purchased by Kenneth Clarke. Restoration work started. Mains electricity connected in 1985.

    In 1997 the  Blue Plains Rd sealed and widened and classified as a Flora Road, Enderslea placed on WA’s Register of Heritage Places.
