The Morley Family

Henry and Sarah Morley arrived at the Swan River Colony on 30th January, 1830, on board the Wanstead. They left their home near Brighton, England in July 1829 with a three year old daughter Jane. A second daughter, Joannah, was born a sea five weeks before their arrival.

After a time inĀ AustralindĀ and Upper Swan, Henry assisted in surveying the Blue Plains Road in 1851 and subsequently purchased these 20 acres in 1853 for 20 pounds.

Enderslea homestead was built in stages and remains much the sane today as when it was built.

Henry and Sarah planted citrus trees, grape vines and olive trees. They also ran sheep and cattle. The Morley family made the ten hour journey to Guildford once a month to cart their produce to exchange for necessary supplies of cloth, clothing and powder shot. Hay grown on the property was carted to Fremantle, where it was then exported to British India.
