Red Flowering Gums

Red Flowering Gums

Red Flowering Gums

was performed at Enderslea Farm during the National Trust Heritage Festival of 2015 and was performed again on

Friday and Saturday the 16th and 17th of September 2016 at 2pm during the Bindoon Wildflower Festival 2016

During 1929 Western Australia is celebrating its centenary. Join four spirited women discussing art, education social conditions and their lives during this exciting period in Perth’s history:

This play was very appropriate for the Wild Flower Festival as photographer  Helen Ogden and her friend Artist Ida Richardson have just published their very popular book

Flowers of Western Australia

This  was a very early book about what became one of the most popular discoveries of W.A. Its Wildflowers.

Helen Ogden was the sister-in-law of Elsie Finlayson Ogden the owner of Enderslea Farm. She had come to Western Australia as the 2nd headmistress of Presbyterian Ladies College. When she married Wilfred Ogden she had to resign her position and she bought Enderslea Farm and developed it as an orchard. With the large stone Barn built by Ticket-of-leave men

Red Flowering Gums gives an evocative sense of place to their stories.. the ticket to the performance was$35. this included tea and coffee with a biscuit or two.  We hoped that you would visit Bindoon either before or after the play to enjoy all that was done to display its wildflowers.
