$60,000 Grant from Heritage Council 2012

I’m really excited about this grant. I’m wanting to take the roof of the Stone Barn built by the Convicts back to its original profile. Late in the 19th Century the original Shingle Roof burnt down. Its taken about 125 years to replace it. I’m delighted.

If you are interested in ticket of leave men you could connect to Daniel Baughan on the Internet. One of his descendants in England, Kevin Norman, has done a very detailed history of his life in the context of both England and the Swan River Colony. Daniel married Caroline Morley in November 1853 and moved to Enderslea for a few years. This was the year that Henry Morley bought Enderslea and the original Shepherds house was built. This is probably where they both lived whilst the Homestead was being built. They then moved up to Greenough where within a few years both he and Caroline died..separately…His death was particularly painful.
